Paschale McCarthy has been requested to present on Selective Mutism at the 11th European Congress of Psychology in Oslo this July. 

 
 
 

 

Paschale McCarthy began teaching psychology and linguistics at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels for Framingham University, Mass. in Rome in 1995. She has lectured to professionals at various European conferences and seminars (ECIS Geneva 1992; Bilingual Society Paris, 1996; ELSA Paris, 1999; SPRINT Health Network, Paris 2003; Paris VII-Jussieu, 2005). She joined AUP in fall 2005 and has to date lectured in Psychological Tests and Measurements, Developmental Psychology, and Cognitive Psychology. Her doctoral research, due to be defended this year, is in selective mutism in a bilingual population with both cognitive and psychodynamic readings and interpretations of the disorder and its implications for the development of the "self".

 

Paschale McCarthy has published an article on Selective Mutism (ECOS, February 2004) and has presented papers on anorexia at Paris VII-Jussieu ("Le traitement de l'anorexie mentale: conflit interne ou conflit d'internat?") in September 1998, and on selective mutism ("Le droit au silence") in September 2005.

 

Paschale McCarthy has worked as a clinical psychologist since 1996. She is a registered health professional in France.
