Marie-France Derhy's book Linear Programming, Sensitivity Analysis & Related Topics has been published by Pearson. The book covers all aspects of linear programming from the two-dimensional LPs and their extension to higher dimensional LPs, through duality and sensitivity analysis and finally to the examination of commented software outputs. Marie-France Derhy joined the AUP faculty a few years after she had completed a Ph.D thesis focussing on multivariate statistical methods. She has now been working extensively on Linear Programming and its variants for the past 5 or 6 years. Strongly committed to her department and fully involved in its development, Professor Derhy has contributed to the creation of the Minor in Applied Mathematics and has just written a proposal for the implementation of a Minor in Statistics, supported by all the members of the department. She is also serving as Advisor for the Minor in Mathematics.

Teaching Interests: Interested in pedagogical aspects: improvement of courses through the inclusion of visual displays (e.g. the grapher, enabling to highlight relationships) and team projects (giving the students the opportunity to develop their analytic ability and their capacity to communicate results, whilst sharing work and knowledge).

Research Interests: Strongly interested in Linear Programming and its variants, and in Multivariate Statistical Analysis. Also interested in Calculus and Graph Theory.

Membership to Scientific Associations: Société de Mathématiques Appliquées et Industrielles (Member of the Commission Enseignement), Société Française de Statistique.

Creation of new courses: Probability (MA 305 - Spring 2006); Operations Research: Mathematical Programming for the new Major in Quantitative and Computational Methods in the Social Sciences.
